The first week of February passed in a blur. I spent World Read Aloud Day Skyping with kids in Illinois, Pittsburgh, NJ, Louisiana, NC, NY, Iowa, and Connecticut. Technology is a wonderful thing!

I’m also serving as a National Writing Juror. Many of the short stories I’ve been judging are good enough to be published in a magazine–truly. You can find out more about Scholastic’s Art and Writing Awards here: http://artandwriting.org

And in other news, ONE TRUE WAY will be featured in the textbook, Queer Adolescent Literature As A Complement to the English Language Arts Curriculum. I was given an opportunity to read and comment on the book, and all I can say is WOW. The book is a must have for all educators striving to create a more inclusive school environment!

The rest of February will be devoted to presentations. I’ll be the guest author at Gorrie Elementary School’s Literacy Night on February 15th. Rob Sanders and I will be headed to the OCTELA conference in Columbus, Ohio, February 22-24th, and I’m prepping for a week of school visits in Omaha, Nebraska, BUT…what I’m most excited about is ONE TRUE WAY’s Book Birthday on February 27th!

Look for me celebrating on the Mixed Up Files of Middle Grade Authors on February 26th, on Kathy Temean’s blog on February 27th, on Middle Grade Mafia on March 5th, and on several other blogs that haven’t given me exact dates yet. Let the celebration begin!
